Morocco's Luxury Hotels in MarrakeshIndulgence and Pampering in Top Moroccan Accommodation Venues
A closer look at some of Morocco's luxury and boutique hotels to see what value for money travelers can expect at these destinations in Marrakesh.
Think holidays in Marrakesh and the first thought that might come to mind is the city's famous square, Jemaa el-Fna. The ultimate Moroccan hang-out has a buzz about it that is familiar and strange at the same time. The far-off sound of banging drums, the plaintive call of the muezzins, the hypnotic melody of the snake-charmers' flutes all summon the traveler to sample life in the city's colorful resplendence. Despite the enticing lure of the sights, sounds, treasures and gardens that Marrakesh has to offer, the traveler here may sink into a languid form of relaxed lethargy just staying at the hotel. This is because Marrakesh has exceptionally good luxury and boutique hotels which may make travelers feel that a day spent at the hotel's poolside and hammans is far more appealing than venturing out to explore or shop. Luxury Hotels and Resorts in MarrakeshLuxury hotel and resort accommodation in Morocco is surprisingly affordable. A five star luxury hotel, such as the Octogone Terre Resort and spa, found west of Marrakesh, offers rates for a junior suite starting at 80 Euros per person per night, including breakfast. The five star Villa Shama, Marrakesh, offers a standard double room at 65 Euros per night for a standard double room, the price goes up, of course, for the luxury suites. Kasbah MarrakeshA kasbah is a type of medina, Islamic city or fortress. In the past, it was a place where a local leader would live and the kasbah would provide defense when a city was under attack. It has high walls, usually without windows. A kasbah was a sign of wealth for some families in the city. Almost all cities had their kasbah, this building being somewhat necessary for the city to survive. These days, many kasbahs have been renovated to provide luxury accommodation with every comfort in mind for guests. One such kasbah, Kasbah Agafay is found a 20 minute drive from Marrakesh. It is situated on a hilltop and has exceptional views over the desert and mountains. The kasbah is rented out on an exclusive basis only, making it perfect for a wedding party or conference. The hotel offers such such touches as an outdoor cookery school set in the middle of an organic herb garden, designed to teach the art of Moroccan cuisine, alternatively Moroccan chefs are at hand to cook delicious Moroccan food that can be served anywhere in the kasbah. Kasbah Tamadot, owned by Richard Branson, is approximately two hours from Marrakesh by car. It is found in the small town of Asni at the foothills of the Atlas mountains. The beautifully decorated, luxury kasbah can be hired individually or exclusively and boasts private indoor pool area and spa. Further touches include individually decorated rooms, Moroccan furnishings and antiques as well as world class service. A holiday to Morocco has plenty to offer the discerning traveler and those who venture to this part of the world are usually anything but disappointed. Luxury hotels, resorts and exclusive boutique hotels in Morocco are surprisingly not few and far between. An online search will reveal comparison shopping for a luxury hotel in a Moroccan city of choice as well as special offers and rates.
